Easter 2014
Hope it's been a lovely Easter for everyone. Ours has been a bit mixed but the sun shone for Bob today so he spruced up his spring yellow bow tie for a trip out.
I've had & still got a bit of cold so have spent the Fri, Sat & Sun inside. Hadn't realised the oil was running so low last week and by Friday the aga was about out and all my Easter cooking and baking plans went out of the window with it.
Fortunately the oil delivery came on Saturday and by Sunday heat and cooking facilities were restored!
I didn't mind staying in as the weather has been a bit on the grey and chilly side and I'm busy working on a project.
Felt a bit better today and the sun came out so off we went to York. I really wanted to get a picture of Cliffords Tower with daffodils but they had all finished, there are just a few bluebells on this pic.
It's Easter so we indulged in a lovely velvety hot chocolate at Spring Espresso.
There was a bit of a chocolate festival going on in York and some nice looking street food. I love these old Citroen vans, maybe I'll have a quirky van one day for a mobile coffee business.
Made the most of the nice weather with a walk around the city walls which I haven't done for a while.
I love some of the little houses and interesting urban street scenes you see from the walls. I will try to capture some other favourite snaps from different sections of the walls on another visit, the back of the Minster gardens being another favourite stretch.
Finished with a walk back along the river to the car. A lovely day only spoilt by some drizzly rain on arriving back.

Vintage Fair at Bridlington Spa
Thank you all for your concern over Bob in the last post and how he was looking a bit chilly. You will be pleased to know we visited the seaside again on Sunday and enjoyed wall to wall sunshine at the vintage fair in Bridlington. He certainly warmed his whiskers up!
Lovely old cars outside the front and a barrel organ to set the mood.
Inside the selection of stalls was great, obviously nowhere near the size of the York racecourse event but I was more impressed with the choice of stalls than the ones I've seen at the York city centre vintage events in recent times.
Vintage clothes are always quite expensive these days but I did find some well priced items and some of the Hornsea pottery was a realistic price too.
I treated myself to one or two little things, this is what I scooped up;
Quite a nice old tea towel, I like my vintage planes.
A pretty crinoline lady plate and some doillies.
A stall with a great selection of vintage children's hankies, I remember having some of designs on sale so I couldn't resist Pinky & Perky as I know I used to have this hanky.
And finally, I found these fabric samples which are lovely quality from a fabric book, quite big pieces the size of a fat quarter for a pound each.
That was my trip to the vintage fair.
Hope everyone enjoyed the sunshine as it seems to have vanished again!

Some lovely gifts from Skye
Above the Isle of Skye Baking Company in Portree is a wonderful gallery called Skyeworks, lots of art but also craft supplies to buy and workshops / courses available in a lovely sewing area, it was fab.
I got this lovely wool, fabric and buttons.
Also picked up these rather groovy postcards which I thought would like nice together in a frame.
Next food, Bob enjoyed some local produce! It's the legendary Skye Fudge made by Carole and to a secret family recipe, yum!
There's an interesting kitchen shop called Rona at Home in Portree and they sell these herbs & comestibles by Uncle Roy, available online too. Lots of traditional concoctions.

Lovely goodies from Skye Batiks, a hand loomed messenger bag and a celtic batik scarf.
Our holiday was over far too quickly.
Bob finished his week in Skye visiting friends at The White Heather hotel, a fab place if you need quality, friendly B&B. Here he got to meet Hamish & Heather Haggis!
